“But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” (Mark 9:27)
The Word of God is so amazing and so wonderful! When you read God’s Word, He allows certain Scriptures to grab your attention. I was doing my personal reading through Mark, chapter nine, and I couldn’t get past this verse without writing this devotion.
After Christ rebuked the foul spirit in verse 25, the Scripture said in verse 26 that the people thought the child was dead.
It’s funny that when you hit certain points of your life, or fall into certain situations in your life, that people write you off as being dead or as your life being over with. But praise God, after Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to the eleven disciples (Matthew 28:16-18), He said, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (verse 18).
Back to our text verse, after many said that the child was dead, the Word says, “But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.”
As the Lord allowed me to see this Scripture, He reminded me of Lazarus being dead for four days. And then, at Jesus’ words – “…Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43) – Lazarus “came forth” (John 11:44). “All power”!
Then in John 10:10, Jesus said, “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” “All power”!
If you search the Gospels, rarely did anyone who died stay dead in the Presence of God.
No matter what situation you may find yourself in, or how your life may look in certain areas, when Christ enters your life, He gives you life, and makes that life worth living.
I heard a man sing a gospel song in which he was giving reasons why he wouldn’t complain. In the song he said that all of his good outweighed his bad. So not only would he not complain, but he was just going to say, “Thank You Lord!”
That’s the life that Christ gives and He is the Reason this life is worth living.
