“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
We can say “Happy New Year” because we know we are in God’s Will (Romans 8:28). Thank God that true happiness is not dependent upon our outward circumstances, but upon inward peace. Praise His Holy Name, for He has given us inward peace in Peace Himself, Jesus Christ. We do not know what our outward situation may be in the coming year, but we do know that our Position in Christ shall not change. Hallelujah!
We know from God’s Word, and from past experiences, that God is true to His Word. He said He would never leave us or forsake us; and praise God, He never has. Therefore, we can say with bold assurance that God will be the same God in the coming year and for eternity.
We know that our Anchor, Jesus Christ, is within the veil; and this Anchor is sure and stedfast. Christ is in the Holy of Holies, even in the Church (Ephesians 3:21); and we are in His Body (1 Corinthians 12:13, John 3:3-8) because we have the Witness of the Spirit of God in us (Romans 8:1-17; Galatians 4:1-7).
We know also that if God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)! We know the Chain of Grace: Foreknown, Predestinated to be conformed to His image, Called, Justified, and Glorified (Romans 8:29-30). We know that the Love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts (Romans 5:3-5); therefore, nothing shall be able to separate us from His Love (Romans 8:35-39). Hallelujah!
So, how can we fail? Of course, we cannot! We may get tired, lonely, depressed, and even afraid at times. We may suffer trials of all sorts. And we may be unhappy in our circumstances. But praise God, we know He is with us in the New Year, and we know we shall overcome because He promised it!
So we can say “Happy New Year” for we know God has good for us even in our trials (James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-5).
We have no way of knowing what we may face and undergo in this New Year. But whatever happens, we know that it is God’s Will, and He is in charge, and He is watching over us (Job 23:1-14; Psalms 121:1-6).
We pray it will be a year of great growth for our spiritual knowledge of Christ and His Kingdom truths. We pray it will be a year wherein we learn to praise Him for all things; knowing that all things work together for our good. We pray that God will bless the House of Hope Prison Ministry beyond all that we could ask or think in the coming year.
Child of God, are you praying for spiritual growth? Are you able to say “Happy New Year”?
