“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)
The sense of smell connects us to memories. A whiff of fragrance or fleeting aroma can easily trigger memories of events, people and other associations. This fact is also true of the Gospel of Christ. The Knowledge of God has a distinct smell that reaches the senses no matter when or where it is shared.
According to 2 Corinthians 2:14, you can smell God’s Truths via the Sweet-Smelling Aroma of Christ as He spreads the knowledge of Him through believers as well as through a devotional thought like this one.
Take the Smell Test: Ask your nose to answer these “smelly” questions to see if you can detect the Aroma of Christ.
* When you read or hear the Scriptures, do puffs of TRUTH waft from the message to make your nostrils flare as you breathe deeply? If so, you are experiencing the Fragrance.
* Does the Pleasant Aroma from the Gospel linger a while longer after you’ve spent quiet devotional time with God? If so, the Scent of the Knowledge of Him is saturating the air and renewing your mind.
Prayer: Lord, help us spread the Sweet Perfume of the Knowledge of God in every place we go, with everyone we meet, and in everything we do! Amen
