“Father, I trust You to guide and direct my steps when I submit my plans to You. But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” (Proverbs 16:9)
Do you have expectations for a bright future? Do you have a plan to make your dreams come true? Many people are unsure of what they want, while others have ideas and desired hopes for a time ahead. The devotional thought for today focuses on Proverbs 16:9 and the Biblical approach to planning for a time yet to come.
Take one step forward from now, and you’re in the future.
God created us with a future. We move ever forward from birth to death. Each new breath, action, or thought propels us further onward, for we cannot return to the past. According to today’s Scripture, we can make plans for the future, but the Lord ultimately controls and directs the actions to put our ideas into place.
So, go ahead and think of the things you want to do, the goals you dream of achieving, as well as the life you imagine living; for, without a plan, you will run around in circles, waste precious time, energy, and other resources, and be subject to disappointment and failure.
Remember, God is in charge. Make your plans and commit them to Him. Refuse to doubt that He can accomplish them through you. Stay the course when things get tough by fixing your mental and spiritual eyes on The Lord, knowing that He will
Prayer: Father, help us to make plans but listen to you and your direction for our lives. Amen
