“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8)
The devil is a professional and a master in his deceiving, charming skills when it comes to the battlefield of the human mind. But I encourage you to not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. Don’t let him at any time pull anything over on you, because the deceiver is only out to mislead you by his falsehood of a deceptive promise.
The devil is out to destroy all that God made good; and we sometimes perish in his tricks because we refuse to love the truth that God put before us in the beginning. God has given us strength to be firm in faith and to withstand the evil one that stands against us. And that strength is the Word of God. If there’s any way the deceiver can get your eyes away from the Word; truly he will do it by causing trouble. He will be a hurricane in your circumstances. He will even allow you to concentrate on things that are not important instead of on the Promises of God.
But God reminds us, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13). God says don’t let the outward appearance deceive you in your affections or emotions, mental or physical, in the way that you have been trained. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Because the deceiver is against you and will push every button of fear in you to get you to focus on his professional charming skill. Or push every button to get you to look back at the past to an unforgettable bad situation, to bring you back into your old ways of thinking and living. The deceiver, with his cunning hatred, will steal anything good in an effort to kill what blessings God has for you.
God reminds us to be ready, be alert, be wise. (Ephesians 6:16) “…taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”; the deceiver who is against you.
