“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
This morning we start another day of our life. Every day is a precious and priceless day, because it is one of a kind. And once it is gone, it will never be repeated.
Each day is also filled with tests and choices. Joshua said, “Choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Joshua 24:15b).
As Children of Grace, we only have two options, (1) choose Christ and His Ways of Righteousness, the Way of the Spirit; or (2) choose the ways of unrighteousness, the way of the flesh, the way of the “old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts” (Ephesians 4:22). We will either walk by faith, or walk by sight.
Our prayer today is that we choose to walk by faith. Really, as Born-Again Children of God, we have no choice. The only option we have is to walk in His Love, in His Light, circumspectly, filled with the Spirit, singing praises to Him, and submitting ourselves one to the other (Ephesians 5:1-33). Our path is clearly to be one of Holiness (1 Peter 1:14-16) and one of Peace (Hebrews 12:14). Then our fruit will be of the Spirit and not of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-23). The result will be that we do see and we will see the Lord; now and in the future, as we are brought to where He is, to be One with Him, and to behold His Glory (John 14:3; 17:21-24). Hallelujah!
Child of God, to choose the flesh is to choose cursing and death (temporal). But to choose the Spirit is to choose life, an abundant life here on earth. (Read Deuteronomy 30:10-19.)
And so today, by God’s Grace and Power, we choose Christ; and not the pleasures of sin, which are but for a season (Hebrews 11:22-25). But we choose Christ; which choice has a great recompense (return) of Reward – now and in eternity.
This choice will be evident by the fruit of the Spirit that we bear; and by the abundance of our fruit – fruit, more fruit and much fruit (John 15:1-16). This choice will also place us in physical and spiritual agreement with other Born-Again Children of God. We will all pull in the same yoke; we will all plow together in His Kingdom’s soil.
This truth is an all-important truth. The foundation of our blessings is based on Christ, on our unity in Him, and on our performance of His Commandments together and in unison. We have the same desire, goal, and determination – to serve Christ in love, peace, righteousness, and joy of the Holy Ghost; which is proven again by our works (James 2:14-26). And the results will be that God is honored; His Purpose is being worked out; and we will receive the greatest benefits and blessings that God has prepared for His Special, Born-Again Bride.
God has proven to us over and over again, the benefit and value of following His Word. Therefore, my brothers and sisters in Christ, be encouraged today, look to the God of our Salvation; for out of Him flows that bountiful supply of Grace and Love and Power to perform His Commandments.
Yes, we are chosen people of God; special people of God. In fact, we are “…a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” (1 Peter 2:9). Therefore, we are His Bride! Hallelujah!
But how do we avail His Power daily to be an overcomer?
- Confession, Prayer, Study of His Word;
- Surrender to God, Submit to His Word, Obey His Word, and Endure in His Word;
- “Receive with meekness the engrafted word” (James 1:21b);
- And “be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22);
- Walk in His Love; and His Love will perfect us (1 John 2:4-6; 4:7-21);
- Be separated from this world; be in it, but not of it (2 Corinthians 6:14-18);
- Be Holy people (1 Peter 1:14-16; Hebrews 12:14);
- We must glorify Him in our bodies and in our spirits (1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Romans 12:1-2).
Child of God, upon the authority of His Word, if we follow Him, we shall always be in His Banqueting House of Love. Yes, there are times of winter and summer, times of drought and famine. But according to Jeremiah 17, our roots will be planted by the water; therefore, our leaves will be green and our plant will never cease to bear fruit, His Fruit.
Yes, trials and troubles come to all in this life. But only His Special, Born-Again Children have Him abiding in them and they abide in Him; which gives them the Power and Peace to walk in His Love, in His Victory, every day. Though the outward man perishes, our inward man is being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
No matter our outward circumstances, He said He would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). There, my friends, is our Security and our Peace and our Provision. No matter what the valleys of life may be or whatever the mountains may be – God is ever mindful of us, Providing, Protecting, and Sustaining us unto Glory.
Yes, He is our Preserver, our Savior, even our Sanctification. He is our All in All. (Read Psalms 121:1-6; 23:1-6; and many, many more.)
