(Job 1:14-19) “And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: (15) And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
(16) While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
(17) While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
(18) While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: (19) And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.”
It does not take a Church boasting 1000 members to have revival; or a choir of 200 singing in harmony; or a bank account with six figures. It does not take perfected preaching; or well-orchestrated music; or talented singing. It does not take a well-manicured lawn; stained-glass windows; or elaborate interior decorations. It just takes one individual who is available and desirous for God to work through him to have revival.
The devil plotted and planned, devised and desired a way to assassinate God’s Anointed One who possessed Truth in His Soul. ‘If I can get Eve to fall, I will destroy God’s plan to propagate Truth.’ With his limited knowledge of the workings of God, and his ignorance of the human ability of reproduction – the devil was astonished when God brought an answer to the fall of Adam and Eve. A son was born named Abel. And he made sacrificial offerings unto the Lord. The devil thought, ‘If I can destroy Abel…’ and Cain killed Abel. But, a Seth was born. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord. Abel worshipped God by himself. Seth got others to worship God with him.
In the course of reading your Bible, you will find countless episodes of the devil trying to kill the lineage of people who would one day birth into this world the Child who would be both God and man: Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace, the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Rose of Sharon, Lily of the Valley, The Bright and Morning Star, Fairest of ten thousand, our Shepherd, Captain, Redeemer, our Jesus.
Aren’t you glad you know Him in the Power of the Holy Ghost?
In the Old Testament, the drama continued to unfold…
Moses: What a slap in the devil’s face, the devil thought he had him. But, he got away. I would liked to have been there when Pharaoh was sitting on his throne. What is your name? I came out of your plan, scheme, trap. Who sent you? I Am That I Am. What is your message? Let my people go!
Devil You Missed One! And the one you missed is God’s Answer for revival
In the New Testament, the devil hears a pounding on his door. What is your name? The Church of Jesus Christ. What does your name mean? The drawn-out ones. We came out of your plan, scheme, trap. We came out of your darkness into His marvelous light. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church. Our God is not dead – But He’s still alive. Churches may be dead, so-called Christians may be dead.
Our God is Alive!
Old song:
I can feel him in my hands, I can feel him in my feet
I can feel him in my heart, I can feel him all over me
God’s not dead but he’s alive
Herod: Killed all the children under the age of 2. I would have liked to have been there 28 or 29 years later. When one of the king’s men came into the court and said: you need to go down to the cemetery – somebody is raising the dead; go to the Temple – somebody is opening blinded eyes; go into the city – somebody is healing the lepers; go to the river – somebody is walking on the water.
But the enemy had moved in; he had captured the heart of Judas. He had the crowd on his side. He thought he had moved Jesus into his trap in Jerusalem. He knew he had Jesus in his most vulnerable position. The strategy and the scheme from the beginning was to kill Jesus. As the blood dripped, as the sweat poured, as the body convulsed, as the flesh was pierced, as the spit hung from his face; Jesus stunned the demonic audience by crying “It is finished.” With these words, the earth shook, clouds turned black, demons shrieked, hell was shaken. Because Jesus was not admitting a defeat; He was not taking a step in retreat. It was a declaration of Victory. After three days of waiting in nervous curiosity, the devil watched as the earth began to shake. Soldiers began to collapse. Rock began to roll. Graves began to open. As the Savior began to breathe.
And a King began to reign!
