“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Being thankful and grateful to God and trusting that He is JEHOVAH GOD; the One in complete control, all-powerful, all-knowing, and always concerned about you; is the key that gives us access to His account, His treasures, His riches; by (or through) Christ Jesus, our Lord, Saviour, and Brother.
“For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,” (Hebrews 2:11)
In our text verse, in a situation like Paul was, he didn’t actually need material things like money (worldly riches). But he needed to hear some good news about the Church at Philippi. More than having the best food to eat and the best clothes to wear, he wanted to experience the Peace of God by knowing that the church he had planted there was growing in grace and knowledge and judgment (Philippians 1:9-11).
He desired to see the church bear fruit that would be evidence that God was giving the increase. By him receiving a good report, he knew that the saints who were at Philippi had made a good deposit. When Epaphroditus delivered the odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God (Philippians 4:18); he soon received a withdrawal from the riches in glory.
Just as Paul needed to get a good report about the church, they also needed a good report about Paul. By him explaining to them in this letter that the things that were happening to him were for the glory of God and the furtherance of the Gospel (Philippians 1:12); they too would experience the Peace of God that passeth all understanding. This is what they needed!!
And this is what we need for our souls today!!
True Peace, Love, Joy and all the other heavenly riches come only from the Supply of God according to His Riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.
John says in 3 John, verse 4:
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
Jesus instructs us how to make deposits:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:” (Matthew 6:19)
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” (Matthew 6:20)
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
Jesus also instructs us how we receive withdrawals. One example is in Matthew 5:7:
“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”
God’s Treasures cannot be measured. And He knows our every need!!
