“For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (Romans 11:34-36)
To my knowledge, time travel is just a product of our imagination. The only thing that is profitable to us is for our Faith to take us back to the cross and the empty tomb of Jesus Christ, our Substitute and Savior.
Just as we cannot physically travel to the past, we cannot travel to the future either. And in some cases, we cannot travel while here in the present. Even now, some of that is limited and has boundaries. Not only in the arena of physical movement, but also in the arena of our knowledge, and our dominion, or authority, in all things.
God would not be God if He did not know the Beginning, the Middle, and the End of all things. He surely would not be much of a God if He were not in control of all things, past, present, and future. There are a few ten-cent words that are used to try to define these characteristics of God. He is said to be Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Immutable.
In the Bible, He tells us over and over again that He simply knows everything that goes on and that He is in control of everything as well – by asking questions like He does in verses 34 and 35 of our text passage. He even knows our answers before we do. For us to be ahead of our God in anything, would give us the right to receive some glory (neither of which could ever happen).
Verse 36 says, “For of him (it starts with Him), and through him (it involves or proceeds by Him), and to him (it ends with Him)…”
In Revelation 1:8, John wrote of Jesus having said:
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
1) “For of him”; Colossians 1:16 says:
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
2) “Through him”; Colossians 1:17 says:
“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
3) “To him”; Ecclesiastes 12:7 says:
“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
We will all also answer to Him, when we return to Him. Ecclesiastes 12:14 says:
“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
And Hebrews 9:27 tells us:
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
Therefore, we should give God the Glory that is due unto Him and Him only – in all things: seen and unseen; known and unknown; past, present, and future. AMEN!!
Unto God be the Glory for All!
