“I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 45:13)
Governments have been rising and falling for centuries as mankind has put forth a feeble effort in trying to run God’s Kingdom. Although some motives have been impure and some intentions possibly even sincere, man will continue to set up his own little kingdoms; but to no avail, flesh will always fail. But what God has designed shall be accomplished and shall stand.
God said, “I have raised him up in righteousness.” King Cyrus was a man raised up by God to answer the petitions of a people in need of restoration. Israel had been scattered by God to the four corners of the earth because of rebellion and sin that was in need of retribution. King Nebuchadnezzar was God’s hand of judgment for the disobedience of a gainsaying people that continually provoked the Lord to anger; but thank God, in judgment, the Lord remembers mercy. Babylon had come to her end and the vengeance of the Lord’s Temple was soon to fall. The Medes and Persians, under the reign of King Cyrus, were the judgment for the wicked and the restoration of the righteous. A NEW SHERIFF WAS IN TOWN!
This government dealt a fatal blow to the Babylonian regime and a prophetic utterance of a seventy-year captivity of God’s people had been fulfilled. Righteousness was stepping on the scene and wickedness was being carried away like chaff with the wind on the summer threshing floor.
You may ask, “What does all this mean to me?” Well, depending upon whether you are wicked or righteous, it can mean one of two things. First, if you’re righteous, King Jesus is our New Sheriff; where once upon a time, our master was Satan. We are right now in the process of restoration. God has judged our life of Babylonian sin and we are being restored to our promised land by the government of God. Alleluia!
But if you haven’t submitted to the reign of King Jesus and His system of governing, Ye Shall Perish with Babylon. For her sins are soon to reach unto the heaven and Jesus will deal a fatal blow to this wicked Babylonian kingdom, its king, and its people. But as for God’s people, “…go ye out of the midst of her (Babylon), and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD” (Jeremiah 51:45).
The Word of God declares the deliverance is free. “Not for price nor reward” (see the text verse). God is calling out a people from the four corners of the earth to accept the free gift of God’s Anointed One. King Jesus will shelter you in the cleft of The Rock from the judgment that is falling and soon to fall.
Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come ye and buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder…” (Isaiah 9:6)
THERE’S A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN!! Alleluia!!
