“… yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” (Psalms 144:15b)
“… but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” (Proverbs 29:18b)
These devotions have, as their primary target, for you the believer to know with certainty that you are in the Position of Blessedness, or Happiness.
The proof, Jesus declared is, “…happy (or blessed) are ye if ye do them” (John 13:17b). “Doing” is the result. You do not “do” to get; but you “do” because you have, or to manifest that you are in the Position of Blessedness (to manifest to yourself and to others).
The requirement is to “…know (perceive) these things…” (John 13:17a). To know spiritual truth (1 Corinthians 2:14), you must be regenerated by the Spirit of God. Therefore, if you do not “know these things” (that Christ taught in the washing of the Apostles’ feet); you cannot do the “works of faith.” You must be indwelt by Christ to “do” His works.
Many today are “doing,” but without the knowledge and wisdom of Christ indwelling them. They have many works, but no perception, nor power to perform them in the knowledge of Christ.
Therefore, they are works of the flesh and not works of The Faith (or of Christ). Many are fooled and deceived by their works of the flesh, and are trying to masquerade them as works of the Faith. (See James 2:14-26; Matthew 7:21-29.)
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22)
“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23)
Let this be the conclusion of the whole matter.
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
Reader, the test is so simple, “If ye know these things, happy (blessed) are ye if ye do them” (John 13:17). Are you performing the Works of Christ, such as simply washing the feet of the saints?
