Author Bio - Charlie Holmes

Charlie Holmes was a profession musician at the age of nineteen, when God got hold of him and radically transformed him. Though he still struggled with some of the old sins, his life was very different from that point on. He still pursued music and wound up playing with a Christian band. This took him to thirteen different countries and every state in the United States except Rhode Island. Finally, frustrated with the limitation of music ministry and his own ignorance of the Scriptures, Charlie left the band and went to college in Anchorage, Alaska; earning a Bachelor’s Degree in religion from Wayland Baptist University.

Still not satisfied with his growth, Charlie moved to New Orleans to go to seminary. After only a year, he dropped out to pursue music again. Meanwhile, his struggle with pornography had caught up to him; and God was chastising him for it. When Charlie repented, he went through about six years of depression, thinking he had ruined his usefulness to God.

Hurricane Katrina drove him back to Texas, where he re-entered seminary and continued his studies. It was here that God began to open Charlie’s eyes to the true depth of His Grace. Once again, God radically transformed Charlie’s thinking. He was set free from the crippling depression he had gone through, as well as from the addiction to pornography. He was halfway through to earning his Master’s Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, when he could no longer afford tuition, and began preaching in nursing homes. He met his wife and was blessed with two beautiful baby boys.

Now God chose to allow Charlie to go through his greatest trial. He had to go to prison for a horrible lapse of judgment earlier in his life. For the next six years, he is serving God inside the prison and teaching music to inmates, as well as writing devotional material for the House of Hope Prison Ministry.
