The purpose of “other tongues” as a Gift of the Holy Spirit continues to be a controversial teaching among the many denominations. I like the idea you gave that it was a proof that the “power” had been given to the Church of Jesus Christ.
There were many other things that “caught my eye” while studying this. I already mentioned about the “other tongues,” or Gift of the Holy Spirit. It has also given me a lot better concept of the Kingdom of God, especially its beginning.
The part about being born again gave me a different look than what I have been taught. A physical birth does not give life, but manifests life. So in the spiritual, the Spiritual Birth is clear evidence of an experiential understanding by the quickened sinner of his identity in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ; that he knows for certain because of the witness of the Spirit of Christ that he is a son of God.
There were just things everywhere that gave a new or better insight into the Scriptures and the themes I have studied over my short Christian life. Your studies have really helped me know that I am growing in maturity in the Kingdom of Heaven.
